What do you do when you really don’t love a quilt you’re making, especially when you’re making it for someone special?
My daughter requested a quilt made with dandelion fabric for her birthday, last October by the way. My family has a thing with dandelions, which is a whole other story; needless to say we all have dandelion tattoos. Getting back to the quilt, I finally found the perfect fabric, Vert Fusion by AGF. It will match perfectly with the paint in their bedroom. I wanted a simple two color quilt that would showcase this fabric, so I chose Hourly Quilt by Mary Go Round Quilts. This beautiful quilt is made up of many HSTs, which I love making, chain piecing can be so meditative.
After spending two afternoons piecing, and pressing I put one block together just to see how it looked, as one does. I’m not sure what happened to my beautiful dandelion fabric, but it disappeared. I think it may be the particular green I chose as the solid. What to do, what to do? I think I’ll just carry on, the pattern is lovely, the fabric is lovely, just because it didn’t quite match my vision doesn’t mean it can’t be lovely too.
What do you do when your quilt vision doesn’t materialize?
