Price Per Square Inch
My rates are 2 cents per square inch for all designs. Designs are Edge to Edge.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .02 = $96.
Minimum Charge
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table
runner’s square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
Batting
I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly
blend, and 100% cotton.
I will order other fiber varieties of Quilters Dream batting like Dream Orient or
their Green option (made with recycled plastic) for you if given enough lead
time.
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
** Please note, I’m required by the State of California and Los Angeles County to collect a 10.25% sales tax on batting purchased through me.**
Thread
I use 100% polyester thread; either So Fine! 50 wt. by Superior Threads or Glide 40 wt. I don’t charge any extra fees for thread, it’s included in the square inch price.
I like to attempt to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.
Binding
I will apply your precut binding to your quilt after quilting. You have three options and price points for this service.
- Binding #1 – $3.50 per perimeter foot. The quilt is trimmed, straight binding is applied with my longarm machine to the quilt front. The binding is then hand-stitched to the back of the quilt.
- Binding #2 – $2.50 per perimeter foot. The quilt is trimmed, straight binding is applied with my domestic machine to the quilt back. The binding is then machine top-stitched in place to the front.
- Binding #3 – $2.00 per perimeter foot. The quilt is trimmed, straight binding is applied with my longarm machine to the quilt front. You will hand-stitch or machine stitch the binding to the back with your domestic machine.
All bindings are calculated on a “perimeter foot” measurement. Perimeter feet is the total outside measurement of the quilt measured in feet. It is easily calculated by this formula: Quilt Length + Quilt Width X 2, divided by 12 (inches) then rounded up to the nearest whole number = Perimeter Foot.
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in California, USA, and would be happy
to receive your top and backing by mail. I’d recommend sending your
materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible
moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure
the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described
above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical).
Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please
indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional
insurance on your behalf. It’s a great idea to insure your valuables against loss
or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don’t require it.
